Gavà Mar, Spain Restaurant Reviews

Staying by the beach is always welcomed on any of our travel adventures. We decided to stay a few nights in Gavà Mar when visiting Barcelona, Spain since it was closer to the airport than Barcelona proper and we had an early morning flight home to catch. Here were a few food spots we visited in the Gavà Mar and Castelldefels municipalities. I hope our recommendations help if you are looking to stay on the beach with close accessibility to the airport on your next trip to Barcelona.

This is the perfect little bakery in Gavà Mar! Their coffee is phenomenal! I ordered a cappuccino with cocoa and the chocolate croissant. We grabbed a seat on the patio and they delivered our goods right to the table. This definitely was a local morning hangout stop in town and I understand why! With amazing pastries, coffee and service we couldn't have picked a better spot. The prices were also very affordable which is always a win in my book. I will be having sweet dreams of this place for months to come, too bad it's so far away.

This is a fun beach shack bar right on the beach at Gavà Mar. Follow the bike and walking path along the beach and you will run into it. They have the tunes going and the drinks flowing. We dropped in for a drink and some tapas while in the area. The tapas were as expected fairly basic considering they are being whipped up in a small beach shack kitchen. The prices are fair and the tapas filled us up and the cerveza hit the spot.

When in Spain afternoon Sangria is a must!  This place was the perfect spot right near the beach with a nice patio, ocean views, and nice breeze.  We ordered a pitcher of Sangria and it honestly was the best sangria we had while in Spain!  Their service was great and they even brought a small bowl of marinated olives for us to snack on.  We didn't get food, although may others around us did and it looked and smelled amazing, especially the paella!  So if you are looking for some afternoon sangria make sure you swing by Rincon de Lola.

AC Hotel Gavà Mar

Address: Carrer dels Tellinaires, 33 - 35 08850 Gava, Spain (Gavà Municipality) (click here to locate on Google Maps)

Rating: 1/5 (rating just for the Restaurant)

We arrived late to the AC Gavà Mar hotel and the restaurant was still open. Being unfamiliar with the surrounding area and food options we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant for convenience. The food at the restaurant was not good!  Not only were the menu options odd, when ordering what we thought was safe we couldn't help but laugh because we could have done better from our kitchen at home. I ordered the pizza topped with Iberico ham which sadly did not do Iberico ham justice as it was very tough and dried out, the pizza dough was also raw in the center. My husband got a ham and cheese sandwich topped with an egg, which seemed to be wonder bread without the crust, a sad attempt at presentation and overall unappetizing. To top it all off the prices we ridiculous considering the quality of food. I would recommend footing the Uber or Taxi fare to Castelldefels where from my research some of the best restaurants in the area seem to be, otherwise it’s roughly a 2-3 mile walk one way from the hotel.
